Second Annual Battle for the Barrel Vintage Base Ball Match

Mark your calendar for Thursday, July 10th at 7:00 PM as the Georgetown Gentlemen take on the Paris Bourbonites in the Second Annual Battle for the Barrel Vintage Base Ball Match at Ward Hall, just a mile west of downtown Georgetown.

This free, family-friendly event brings history to life with base ball played by 1860s rules—no gloves, wooden bats, and a whole lot of character. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy the game under the summer sky. A variety of food trucks and vendors will be on site to round out the evening.

This friendly rivalry pits two teams from communities that each lay claim to being the true birthplace of bourbon. Georgetown, home of Rev. Elijah Craig, and Paris, home of Jacob Spears, both assert their place in whiskey history. The only way to settle the score—at least for now—is on the base ball field.

The Georgetown Gentlemen currently lead the all-time series 1–0. Can Paris even the tally, or will Georgetown keep the barrel another year?
