NOTE: This event will take place Bridges to Growth in the Carver Center for Families at 1200 W. 17th St, Georgetown, 78626.
Join Kamini Verma, LCSW-S, RPT-S, of the Samaritan Center, to learn the power of a parent's emotional response.
This interactive workshop explores how a parent’s nervous system, emotional presence, and mindful responses directly shape their child’s brain development and emotional patterns. Using a blend of neuroscience insights and accessible mindfulness tools, parents will discover the art of the pause—and how their internal calm becomes their child’s emotional anchor.
By the end of this workshop, parents will:
1. Understand how mirror neurons and co-regulation work in parent-child dynamics.
2. Recognize the power of their own emotional responses in shaping their child’s nervous system and behavior.
3. Learn and practice mindfulness strategies to pause, reset, and respond intentionally during stressful moments.

This workshop is offered at the same time as Paint with Me, a workshop for kids aged 6-12. You do NOT have to have a child attending the painting class to attend the parent workshop. All are welcome! Pre-registration for the painting class IS required, and the class is likely to fill early. Click to see that class registration page.
