What will you learn?
Want to deepen, enrich, and make your theater and dance practice more effective?
This workshop of 6 hours provides performing arts professionals and teachers with an introduction into how the Laban Movement Analysis (LMA) system offers a powerful framework for understanding, analyzing, and conveying movement for dance and theater. By utilizing its four core components – Body, Effort, Shape, and Space – it not only help artists develop technical skills, but also stimulate their creative expression and body awareness.
Body: Understand how different parts of the body work together in movement. This promotes a holistic approach to movement and dance, focusing on coordination, isolation, and body awareness.
Effort: Bring energy, intention, and dynamics into every step. By paying attention to factors like time (intuition), weight (sensing), space (orienting) and flow (feeling) , dancers learn to execute their movements with more expressiveness and control.
Shape: Discover how the body forms and transforms in relation to itself and space. This fosters creativity and expressive imagination, essential in both improvisation and choreography.
Space: Refine spatial awareness and teach performers to move consciously within various directions, levels, and patterns. This not only makes their performance more powerful but also visually captivating.
LMA is not limited to one dance or movement style – it is applicable in classical ballet, modern dance, jazz, urban styles, theater and even in cross-disciplinary contexts. It provides a universal language for movement,
allowing you as a performer and teacher to communicate, correct, and inspire more effectively. Bring depth, clarity, and creativity to your movement and dance lessons – discover the possibilities of Laban Movement Analysis.
