About the event

Eco Printing onto Fabric with Flowers, Leaves and Berries. Part 1
As shown on the BBC - Robson Green's Weekend Escapes. Learn to capture colour from botanicals.
The WOW reveal brings bonus joy.

What is Eco Printing?
It's an environmentally friendly vibrant form of printing that uses natural organic materials bundled up in cloth. The 'bundle' is then steamed, capturing the beautiful colourful essences, giving a unique Eco print. It's low impact and zero waste. We will be using foraged leaves, berries and kitchen spices, all which can be composted.
Why take this class?
It's really fun and a great starting point to learn botanical printing basics. You'll learn a sustainable crafting skill that can be used to prolong the life of clothing, make stunning eco gifts or create wall art, all reducing your environmental impact. You will leave with a sense of achievement, wonderful fabric samples and great joy.
What will we do?
Rose Petal, your tutor, will guide you step by step through the whole process from preparing your fabric, sharing which botanicals deliver great colour, how to tie up and steam your bundles to fixing your colour. After steaming 2 bundles, we will unwind them and have the grand WOW reveal. Be warned, it's addictive!
All materials are provided but if you'd like to bring a small piece of clothing it must be used, clean, a light colour, 50-100% cotton, silk, fine wool , viscose, linen or flax
Part 2. Eco Printed Lampshade and Upcycled Bottle Lamp Workshop
We are delighted to be collaborating with Jenny Gardner for this workshop. Turn your Eco Printed fabric (from part 1) into a lampshade. You will make a 20cm drum lampshade and use a push in lampfitting in a bottle to create your lamp. Bring along an empty bottle or choose from Jenny's stock.
If you'd like to make a weekend of it, consecutive dates are 26th April(eco printing) and 27th (lampshade), 17th May(eco printing) and 18th (lampshade). Also Lampshade making on 29 March
