‘Red Headed Stranger’ Film Screening presented by Garland Cultural Arts in partnership with KXT

SONGS & STORIES CELEBRATING THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF WILLIE NELSON'S 'RED HEADED STRANGER'

In May 1975, Willie Nelson released his iconic and career-changing album, 'Red Headed Stranger.' Recorded in Garland, TX, at Autumn Sound Studio (now Audio Dallas), it is regarded as one of the greatest albums in country music and helped ignite the outlaw movement as well as cemented Willie's place in musical history.

The celebrations kick off with a theatrical screening of Nelson’s film, ‘Red Headed Stranger’ (1986 courtesy Shout!Factory) at the historic Plaza Theatre. Prior to the movie, author and journalist Michael Granberry hosts a conversation about Willie, his music, and the lasting impact of this album with American film and television actress Morgan Fairchild, who played opposite Willie Nelson in the film, Nelson biographer Joe Nick Patoski. North Texas’ own Joshua Ray Walker will contribute to the discussion, revealing his own personal connection to the album.
