🌴🎨 Brush Buddies — Splish Splash Jungle Bash
Ages 9–11
This term, our Brush Buddies are heading into the rainforest for Splish Splash Jungle Bash — a vibrant, hands-on art unit combining watercolour painting and sculpture inspired by the wild colours, textures, and creatures of the jungle.
Students will explore lush jungle themes through expressive watercolour techniques, learning how to create movement, texture, and atmosphere using washes, layering, and colour blending. Alongside painting, they’ll bring their ideas into the third dimension by designing and building jungle-inspired sculptures — from animals and plants to imaginative rainforest creations.
Across the unit, students will:
Explore watercolour techniques such as washes, gradients, and texture effects
Plan and design artworks through sketching and experimentation
Build and construct sculptures using a range of materials
Learn about form, balance, and structure in 3D
Combine painting and sculpture to create dynamic mixed-media pieces
Each session balances skill-building with creative freedom, encouraging students to get a little messy, take creative risks, and develop confidence in both 2D and 3D artmaking.
At the end of the term, Brush Buddies will proudly showcase their jungle paintings and sculptures in Creativity Hood’s first ever student exhibition — a joyful celebration of colour, creativity, and growth.
