Calling all volunteer firefighters, families, and community members! Get ready for the Second Annual Southern Humboldt Fire Department Games, where our region’s bravest will put their skills to the test in a series of thrilling, old-fashioned firefighting competitions.
Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 17th, from Noon to 3 PM, and join us at Benbow Drive – The Diamond (next to the KOA) for an action-packed day celebrating teamwork, agility, and dedication to keeping our community safe. This family-friendly event will feature classic firefighter challenges like the Bucket Brigade, Quick Dress, Hose Coupling, Water Polo, and Tug-o-War, with teams competing for top honors and bragging rights.
Who Will Claim the Coveted Firemen’s Trophy?
The competition heats up as volunteer fire departments battle for the prestigious Firemen’s Trophy, a symbol of excellence and camaraderie—our very own VFD Stanley Cup! Last year’s victors, Redway VFD, proudly hold the title, but will they defend it, or will another department take home the glory?
Fun for the Whole Family!
Beyond the competitions, attendees can explore fire trucks up close, meet the dedicated firefighters behind them, and enjoy a variety of family-friendly activities. Plus, don’t miss out on the delicious food and local vendors, including the Box Bar, a unique mobile bar on wheels serving bubbles, brews, and booze with a fun lounge atmosphere.
