The PVIL existed from 1920-1970 to govern extracurricular activities for Black high schools in Texas during segregation. This presentation will highlight the all-star football games played in high school stadiums across the state, of which Galveston’s Kermit Courville stadium remains the sole survivor of the era.
You are welcome to bring your own lunch to enjoy. Lunch will not be provided.
This presentation will also be streamed free of charge for all Galveston Historical Foundation members as part of their #GalvestonHistory+ account. Access will start at 11:15 a.m. on May 6.
