Fright Years return to MacArts to headline this month's event supported by three Incubator Bands.
Fright Years:
Fright Years are a four-piece band from Edinburgh creating emotionally charged, guitar-driven indie with real ambition. Known for their powerful live shows and rapidly growing fanbase, they are building serious momentum across Scotland and beyond.
Since releasing their debut EP, Still Life in March, the band have continued to establish themselves as one of the most exciting new acts in UK alternative music. The five-track release, produced by Theo Verney (English Teacher, Lime Garden), features Radio 1-backed singles Stars, Obstacles, and Aftersun, along with Do What You Wanna (BBC Introducing Scotland’s Track of the Week) and Lie Down Forever.
Fright Years create music that speaks to the highs and lows of life, transforming grief, survival and identity into anthems that feel both deeply personal and widely relatable. “This record is about trying to hold on to beauty and meaning when things fall apart,” says frontwoman Juliette Kelly. “It was written during a time of real loss, but there is hope in it too.” Sonically, the band take cues from the emotional weight and grandeur of 1990s and 2000s alt-rock, recalling the likes of Smashing Pumpkins, The Killers and Yeah Yeah Yeahs. At the centre of it all is Kelly’s remarkable vocal, shifting effortlessly from raw and intimate to soaring and anthemic — a voice that grounds every song in honesty and power.
With sold-out shows in Edinburgh and Glasgow behind them, and appearances at TRNSMT Festival and support dates with Twin Atlantic ahead, Fright Years are a band with vision, energy and something real to say.

“Kalamity is a young rock band coming to you from Edinburgh. They honour music history by playing the classics, the best of the best, and even the surprising… from almost every decade. They may shock you with whatever song is next on their setlist, but Kalamity always makes it their own and brings the vibe back to rock ‘n’ roll, making it seem like even a pop song belongs in the rock genre. They pull inspiration from a selection of bands such as ACDC, Paramore and Måneskin.

Are a local band that have performed at MacArts previously. Their new direction is very much Rock and Metal.
MacGregor:
MacGregor, first time performer from the Scottish Borders aiming to establish his sound, singing some covers and playing guitar.
