We collectively recognize that peace is far from being known in many communities around the world at this time. We all feel the pain of the loss of basic human rights, of dignity and respect for all beings.
And we all do what we can when we are able. One of the most powerful actions that we can take is the action that is initially unseen. The action of opening our hearts to our own suffering, of our work to clear our clouded minds and to connect to the peace that lives within all of us. This peace radiates out to all whose lives we touch in any way.
We can often feel the heart opening during the last-Saturday-of-the-month Community Sit. We breathe out, we let go. We breathe in, we refresh and restore. Together. When we sit in unity, with our intention to bring peace from the inside out, we can feel that we are not alone on this path. We are walking and sitting together.
We envision our community growing, expanding beyond the boundaries of any religious beliefs and into the awakening hearts of all who are willing to just be present with us. So bring a neighbor or friend who is lonely or is struggling somehow or who is curious about this sitting and walking thing that we do. All are welcome.
This month we are led by Laurie Reisman, a leader in the Gainesville Karma Thegsum Choling (aka Gainesville KTC) temple. She will guide you to your chosen seat (bring your own) with her beautiful crystal bowl healing sound from about 8:45 - 9:00. Feel free to bring dana (donation) that will go towards funding the future Southeast Buddhist Retreat Center and/or non perishable food donations for the Bread of the Mighty Food Bank in Gainesville.
We hope to sit with you Saturday, September 27th from 9 - 10 on the NW Thomas Center lawn. Come early. Feel free to stay and get to know your community.
