Presentation Description- The presentation provides an overview and comparison of the available delivery methods in the water market including progressive and lump sum (fixed price) design-build and construction management at-risk. The presentation also will provide an overview of best practices and lessons learned related to risk and cost management to help provide more cost certainty, especially in a volatile market. Additionally, we’ll explore a few case studies where these methods are being implemented in the State of Florida. Attendees will gain valuable insights into how these collaborative contracting methods would provide the flexibility and collaboration required to deliver high-quality and the most cost-effective approach to delivering capital projects.
Presenter's Bio- Dave Schoster is the Florida Director of DB Growth and Development at Jacobs and licensed Florida PE with over 26 years of experience in the design and construction industry and 20 years delivering collaborative delivery projects. He has served in roles from project manager to project director while Jacobs was in the lead role as the design build entity and as an owner’s agent on occasion while acting as the design criteria professional.
Grant Misterly is a Design Build Project Director and Owner’s Advisor at Jacobs. He has over 26 years of experience in collaborative delivery projects. Throughout his career his focus has been on design build for water and wastewater projects for municipal utilities, but he has also served in key roles for major alternative delivery projects like the I4 Ultimate Project (a $3B transportation project and the largest Public Private Partnership done at the time in the US) and international Engineer/Procure/Construct (EPC) mining projects in South America and North Africa. Grant’s focus in design build projects is fostering collaborative teams to optimize the project goals and results.
