If you're living with chronic pain, this series of classes will offer you the opportunity to share your experiences with other chronic pain sufferers and develop a weekly action plan to help you manage your condition.
Offered by MU Extension, this evidence-based six-week class will teach you to make weekly action plans and give you an opportunity to share your experiences and help other sufferers solve problems they encounter in creating and carrying out their self-management plan. Participants receive a "Living a Healthy Life" book and "Moving Easy Program" exercise CD for participating. Cosponsored by Lincoln University Cooperative Extension and Aging Best.
The series will cover:
• Techniques to deal with problems such as frustration, fatigue, isolation and poor sleep
• Appropriate exercise for maintaining and improving strength, flexibility and endurance
• Appropriate use of medications
• Communicating effectively with family, friends and health professionals
• Nutrition recommendations
• Pacing activity and rest
• Evaluating new treatments
