FAQs
How does registration for trails work?
When you fill out the registration form, you will sign up for the trail you want to run each day. Check the trail requirements carefully before signing up. We also ask a little information about the type of 4-wheeling you prefer so that we can be sure you've signed up for a trail run that you will enjoy. The trails we run are subject to overall interest and trail leader availability for that trail. Trips with less than 5 paid vehicles will be cancelled and attendees given options to reschedule for another trail.
Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?
Drivers must have a valid driver's license. Passengers may be any age.
What can/can't I bring to the event?
No alcohol or drugs are allowed on trail rides.
Vehicles must either (1) be licensed; or (2) have a valid Colorado OHV registration (CO residents) or permit (non-residents)
Most mild to moderate trips include highway driving to get to the trail head, so will need to be licensed. For vehicles towed to the trail head, a Colorado OHV registration/permit is accepted. Some routes are designated as OHV Fullsize 4x4 Trails and even licensed plated vehicles will need a Colorado OHV permit.
The best explanations we've seen on who needs a registration vs a permit are on the Stay the Trail Colorado website:
For rock crawling trips, tow rigs and trailers are encouraged, and in some cases mandatory.
Where can I get a Colorado OHV registration (CO residents with non-plated vehicles) or permit (non-residents and CO residents with plated vehicles)?
You can register your vehicle at a Colorado Parks and Wildlife office or from their designated vendors. Check here for more information:
