Das Live-Filmkonzert zur aktuellen Fassung von Fritz Langs Stummfilm Metropolis ist ein Event der Extraklasse. Dieser eigens für METROPOLIS entwickelte Soundtrack stellt die bekannten Bilder in einen völlig neuen Kontext.
Hier trifft ELECTRO, AMBIENT, WAVE, GOTHIC, EBM/TBM Sound auf Neo-Klassik. Klassische Musik, Ambient-Klänge und Samples werden kompositorisch in die digitale elektronische Klangwelt eingebaut.
Der neue Soundtrack verknüpft den Filmklassiker mit dem 21. Jahrhundert.
Fritz Langs Stummfilmklassiker ist ein Meisterwerk der Filmästhetik und ein Meilenstein in der Geschichte des Science-Fiction-Films. Zudem ist er der heute vielleicht bekannteste Stummfilm des Expressionismus mit Einflüssen des Bauhaus-Stils.
Metropolis hebt sich deutlich ab vom phantastischen Film der Stummfilm-Ära und begründete in Deutschland ein neues Filmgenre: die Science-Fiction. Die damals neuartigen Elemente gehören auch noch heute zu den gängigen Mustern der Gattung.

In der Zukunftsstadt Metropolis ist die Gesellschaft in zwei Klassen gespalten. Die Arbeiter werden in unterirdischen Maschinenhallen an Fließbändern unterdrückt, während sich in luftigen Höhen die Schönen und Reichen in den „ewigen Gärten“ vergnügen. Ein Aufstand der geknechteten Massen führt zu Gewalt, Chaos und Zerstörung, aber schließlich auch zur Versöhnung.

The live film concert for the current version of Fritz Lang's silent film Metropolis is an event in a class of its own. This soundtrack, specially scored for METROPOLIS, places the familiar images in a completely new context.
Here, electro sound meets neo-classical music. Classical music, ambient sounds and samples are compositionally into the digital electronic soundscape.
The new soundtrack links the film classic with the 21st century.
Fritz Lang's silent film classic is a masterpiece of film aesthetics and a milestone in the history of science fiction film. It is also perhaps the best-known silent expressionist film today, with influences from the Bauhaus style.
Metropolis clearly stands out from the fantastic films of the silent film era and founded a new film genre in Germany: science fiction. The elements that were new at the time are still common features of the genre today.

In the future city of Metropolis, society is divided into two classes. The workers are oppressed in underground machine halls on assembly lines, while in lofty heights the rich and beautiful enjoy themselves in the "eternal gardens". An uprising of the enslaved masses leads to violence, chaos and destruction, but finally also to reconciliation.
