Seed Saving - Connecting with our Ancestors

We cannot imagine humanity without seeds, from the beginning they were important, treasures, foraged, selected, carried hundreds of miles and planted, transforming, shifting into the biodiversity we know today.In this class we will explore some of the evolution of seeds through their relationships with humans over generations. You will be given a very basic intro to seed saving, focusing on the easiest seeds to save and learning why some seeds are more complicated to save.

Students will go home with the knowledge and seeds in hand to go plant their own seeds and watch its cycle seed to seed, following in the footsteps of all our ancestors.Please note we will be at a local farm, dress for the weather, with appropriate shoes! Be prepared to go home with seeds and an excitement to grow!

Permaculture instructor and Seed Carrier Taja Wicks is hosting a learning circle at Saturn's Return Farm to learn about the importance of saving and protecting our mother seed sources. Workshop is 10-noon.
