International Observe the Moon Night

Why does the rising Harvest Moon look so big? How did the Moon form and evolve? How and what are we still learning about the Moon? What are Lunar Maria? What are some of the prominent features on the Moon? Get answers to these questions and examine up close an actual piece of the Moon! International Observe the Moon Night is a worldwide public event that encourages observation, appreciation and understanding of our Moon and its connection to space science, exploration, and human culture.

The public is invited to join us for International Observe the Moon Night on Saturday, October 4 at 7 p.m. This free event will be live at the Martz-Kohl Observatory and will not be Zoom streamed. It should be entertaining and educational for all ages. There will be opportunities for questions and answers during the demos and presentations as well as after. Door prizes include observatory swag and books about the Moon, for both adults and children. If the weather permits, viewing opportunities through various telescopes will be available.
