Join us for a powerful screening of Searching for Kapwa, a film that lifts up the struggles, triumphs, and truths of the Filipino diaspora. From colonial legacies to present-day resilience, this documentary invites us to honor our ancestors, reflect on identity, and imagine the future we build together. 🌏✨
Behind the film:
Larry D. Lariosa is a queer, first-generation Filipinx-American and a licensed mental health therapist with over 20 years of experience. His journey as a child of immigrant parents, working across mental health, arts, and advocacy, deeply informs his storytelling.
This is his first feature-length documentary.
Larry also writes music, leads songwriting projects, and is working on a musical theater piece, “The Trees.”
He previously served as the LGBTQ Resource Center Director at UCSF and has engaged in activism and creative work around identity, healing, and representation.
All of our workshops are free to attend, but if you feel inclined to make a donation-- it will go towards the facilitator(s); thank you for supporting our artists!
The screening begins at 1 PM, and is located at the Old Administration Building auditorium.
Please be sure to leave all food and drinks outside of the auditorium, thank you so much!
