Canciones del San Joaquín

Join us for this special one-night concert premiering ten newly commissioned songs from local artists whose music reflects the complex beauty of the San Joaquin Valley—home to one of the largest and most culturally rich populations from Greater Mexico in the U.S. From Son Jarocho to Hip-Hop/Mixtec Rap, this event features a thrilling range of styles, genres, and personal stories.

This is the culminating performance of ACTA’s initiative, a multi-year collaboration with Radio Bilingüe that explores how music carries the voices, dreams, and histories of our region. Last year’s concert, , spotlighted farmworkers, educators, truck drivers, and students telling their own stories through traditional corrido. This year, Canciones moves that tradition forward—offering a new canon of original songs born from life in the Valley today. Together, their performances form a living, breathing archive of Central California’s past, present, and future.
