Official Rules
Check-in: Starts at 6:00 AM CST on September 20th at Surfside Beach Access 5
Fishing may begin immediately after check-in.
All noseboards must be presented at check-in for verification.

1. Tournament Boundaries and Equipment Regulations
1.1 All fishing must take place along the Texas coast between Matagorda and Sabine Pass.
1.2 This is a surf fishing only tournament. Fishing from boats, piers, or jetties is strictly prohibited.
1.3 Any legal method of bait deployment is permitted, including casting, kayaks, and drones.
1.4 There is no rod limit. Anglers may fish as many rods as they choose, provided all rods comply with Texas fishing regulations.

2. Divisions

2.1 Red Fish Division
2.1.1 Target species is redfish (red drum).
2.1.2 Fish must be measured using a flat, rigid noseboard, with the nose of the fish flush against the board’s end.
Noseboards must be verified at check-in.
2.1.3 The entire fish and measurement must be clearly visible during a Facebook Live video.
2.1.4 The longest overall redfish by total length wins. Slot limits do not apply for scoring purposes.
2.1.5 Only one (1) redfish may be submitted per angler.
2.1.6 In the event of a tie, the winner will be determined by the next longest redfish submitted by that angler.
2.1.7 Catch and release is required.

2.2 Kid’s Division
2.2.1 Open to youth anglers 16 years old and under.
2.2.2 Any legally caught species is eligible.
2.2.3 Fish must be measured using a measuring board, tape, or ruler, with the entire fish and measurement visible during a Facebook Live video.
2.2.4 The longest fish submitted by each youth angler will be used for scoring.
2.2.5 Ties will be resolved by the next longest fish submitted by that angler.
2.2.6 Catch and release is required.

2.3 Shark Sidepot
2.3.1 This is an optional entry. Anglers must be registered in the Red Fish or Kid’s Division to participate.
2.3.2 All sharks must be measured using a 120-inch flexible tape, with the measurement clearly visible nose-to-tip in a single, unedited Facebook Live video.
2.3.3 The shark with the longest total length wins.
2.3.4 Ties will be broken by the next largest shark submitted by that angler.
2.3.5 Catch and release is required.

3. Submission Requirements
3.1 All fish must be shown and measured clearly in a Facebook Live video with the official tournament identifier, which will be distributed prior to tournament day.
3.2 Fish must be safely and clearly measured, with the full fish and measuring device visible in the live video. The entire submission must be live — no pre-recorded or edited videos will be accepted.
3.3 All submissions must be made in real time, directly into the Team Shark at the Moon Facebook Group.
3.4 All entries must be submitted by 2:00 PM CST on September 21 via Facebook Live video in the Team Shark at the Moon Facebook Group.

4. General Rules
4.1 Catch and release is required in all divisions.
4.2 All anglers must comply with all Texas Parks & Wildlife Department fishing laws, including legal methods, species, and bag limits.
4.3 This is an individual tournament. No team entries or shared catches are allowed.
4.4 Judges reserve the right to disqualify any entry that violates these rules or compromises fairness, safety, or sportsmanship.
4.5 All protest claims must be submitted within 20 minutes after winners are announced. The decisions of tournament officials are final.

5. Grounds for Disqualification
5.1 Submitting a pre-recorded or edited video.
5.2 Failure to include the official tournament identifier in the Live video submission.
5.3 Unsafe fish handling, including excessive injury or neglectful presentation during the video.
5.4 Fishing outside the designated boundaries or from disallowed platforms.
5.5 Violation of Texas fishing laws or tournament-specific rules.
