Tuesday, September 2nd
Potluck at 6:00 p.m. | Program at 7:15 p.m.
St. John United Church of Christ, 1010 S Park Blvd, Freeport, IL 61032
Migration is a magical time of year for birders of all backgrounds, but there’s something special about Spring Migration: primarily, vibrant colors, vocalizations, and mating behavior. Join NIBNA’s Kee Henze for a retelling of a fantastic trip to mid-coast Maine for Hog Island Audubon Camp's Spring Migration and Monhegan. Kee is a biology major at Highland Community College and an avid young birder who believes in the power of nature to form community and mindful wellness. Come for pictures and stories abound!
Highlights of this trip include the firsthand view of Project Puffin’s reintroduction of the Atlantic Puffin to mid-coast Maine, a nesting female Northern Parula, and a stunning flurry of warbler activity on Monhegan Island: a migratory hotspot.
Start the evening with a delicious potluck meal. Bring a dish to pass and your own table service (your own plates & utensils). NIBNA will provide beverages.
After the meal, there will be a short business meeting with announcements. The program will follow at approximately 7:15 pm.
You can also attend the program only and arrive after 7pm.
