A’s to (what we assume would otherwise be frequently asked) Q’s:
🩷 EuroWGM’s purpose: We aim to provide a top-tier competitive challenge for European WGM debaters. This effort is born from a desire to facilitate growth for WGM debaters across the continent in a setting that platforms their successes and celebrates the community.
🩵 WGM Participation: All WGM debaters, currently or previously enrolled, are welcome to participate. We welcome composite teams. We will assume all registrations are done in good faith.
💚 Non-WGM participation: Due to the nature of the venues, we are unable to close off common areas at the venue to the public (e.g. local students). N-1 will be enforced at this competition. In an effort for N-1 to not exclude participants, we will allow non-WGM institutional judges. Note, non-WGM judges will not be able to chair rounds and they will not be allocated so that they constitute a majority of the voting panel.
💜 Tab: Contrary to the norm at other WGM competitions, we will be working with a public tab. Any participants that wish to remain anonymous on the public tab can use an alias or codename for this purpose.
💛 Relation to EUDC Council: Previous council meetings have discussed the idea of an EUDC WGM, but as no bids surfaced, the discussions ended. Copenhagen Debating Society’s EuroWGM operates completely independently from the EUDC Council. We hope a successful 2026-edition in Copenhagen can be a starting point for the formal inclusion of an EUDC WGM in the future.
