An Evening Of: Horror

Lue ønsker at udbrede denne fascination.

Pianist: Polina Fradkina

In collaboration with Teatret Ved Sorte Hest and COPENHAGEN STAGE, we present An Evening Of: Horror

Together, actor Lue Støvelbæk and pianist Polina Fradkina explore negative emotions through horror in a reading/concert/performance that highlights both the beauty and the cruelty of the genre. The event will be held in English and takes place in the stunning venue of Teatret Ved Sorte Hest. After the performance, there will be an opportunity to listen to a talk.

An Evening Of: Horror
We will dive into despair, loneliness, anger, contempt, and—above all—fear. These are the emotions we’re not supposed to feel or want, but which nevertheless attract us. We embark on a journey into a melancholic world through a blend of readings and intimate music, featuring texts by Edgar Allan Poe and classical compositions by Debussy, Mussorgsky, Firtich, and Drukh. We will travel back to the origins of modern horror stories and horror music, to experience the beginnings of our fascination with these emotions that we have since learned to hide.

This project is very close to our hearts, and it is a concept we wish to tour with—engaging audiences throughout the country. We hope you will attend, and if the event might be of interest to you, we would be glad to begin a dialogue.

Cast:
Actor: Lue Støvelbæk
Lue Støvelbæk graduated in 2019 and has since worked in television, film, and theatre. He is known from productions such as Badehotellet and The Day We Died, and on stage as Romeo in Romeo and Juliet, and in classics like Waiting for Godot and Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf. Lue has always had a special connection to classical material. Discovering the balance and precision of classical texts is one of the reasons he fell in love with the performing arts and literature. He wishes to share and expand this fascination.

Pianist: Polina Fradkina
Polina is a concert pianist. She performs extensively at recitals and in ensembles, has released 10 solo albums as well as collaborations with other musicians. Her artistic approach is rooted in academic tradition as much as in experimentation and contemporary music. A prime example is her project In-Temporalis, developed over decades in collaboration with Cuban percussionist Yoel Gonzalez. She is also an expert in music psychology and works intensively in the field, conducting concerts and lectures on the interplay between emotions and their reflection in music.
In 2022, Polina and her husband left Russia and now reside in Denmark.
