Westminster Bookmark's monthly reading series, 'The Catch-Up,' hosted by acclaimed author Fawn Parker, returns to the shop on Sunday, July 27th, 3pm.
This month features readings from poets Brian Bartlett (The Astonishing Room) and Angel T. Dionne (Bird Ornaments), as well as recent winner of the NB Book Award for fiction, Nelson Keane (Nachzehrer)!
This event is free to attend and all are welcome.
Brian Bartlett’s seven earlier collections of poetry include The Watchmaker’s Table, The Afterlife of Trees, and Granite Erratics. He has also published several books of nature writing and a gathering of his prose on poetry. His work has received The Atlantic Poetry Prize, the Acorn-Plantos Award for People’s Poetry, and two Malahat Review Long Poem Prizes. The many books edited by him include Alden Nowlan’s Collected Poems. After long periods living in New Brunswick and Montreal, Bartlett moved to Halifax/Kjipuktuk in 1990, and taught for three decades at Saint Mary’s University. He has kept a daily journal for many years.
Angel T. Dionne is an associate professor of English literature at the University of Moncton Edmundston campus. She holds a PhD in creative writing from the University of Pretoria and is the founding editor of Vroom Lit Magazine. Her writing and art have been featured in several experimental publications. She is the author of a full-length collection of short fiction, Sardines (ClarionLit, 2023) and two chapbooks: Mormyridae (LJMcD Communications, 2024) and Inanimate Objects (Bottlecap Press, 2022). She is also the co-editor of Rape Culture 101: Programming Change (Demeter Press, 2020).
Nelson Keane, son of a British soldier and prison warden, is a retired teacher. He is married to a school principal and they share their home with two dogs, four cats, and no ghouls. His debut novel, Nachzehrer, won the 2025 Mrs Dunster's Fiction Prize at the New Brunswick Book Awards .
