In addition to that, the events that transpired at Clash 38: Strong is in Session are sure to send shockwaves throughout the entire NBWA!
To start off, the new NBWA Heavyweight Champion Nick Strong was given the night off and spent his time at the commentary table scouting potential future challengers. Other than one brief near-altercation with his brother Matt during the VIP portion of the show, Nick was merely there as an observer. What will happen this month when the champion comes back into Fredericton?
The biggest news from last month was the changing of the guard as we saw Ace Dynasty failing to retain their tag team titles against Crued Oil (and a chain), thus allowing the record-holding former 266-day champions to capture gold for a second time. Do they have a stranglehold on these titles? How will Ace Dynasty recover?
Speaking of championships, we also saw Kerry Killem lock horns with “Horsepower” Hunter Sampson for the River Valley Title. As expected, Walt Wonderful got involved in the match, especially during the closing moments when he provided the champion with a wrench. That attack on Sampson was enough to result in a disqualification but alas, no title change. Evidently, the NBWA board is not pleased with that un-satisfying ending so they have ORDERED a rematch at the Monster Mash - Sampson will get another shot at the gold.
We also saw the CCW debut of Stormie Hale in September and she was able to knock off a newcomer all the way from Brooklyn, New York in Nat Castle! After a hard-fought match, Storm got the W. Her next test will be against the young Zondra Lee, who has definitely made an impact in CCW on more than one occasion.
Did we see a brand new side of Pat Perswayze?! Rick Owens was able to get the victory over the exercise aficionado but it seems like Perswayze’s promise to refrain from cheating were genuine. During the match, he contemplated the idea several times but backed away, which may have also been his downfall.
CCW Monster Mash will be LIVE on October 25th at the Fredericton Exhibition Centre! And don’t forget to bring your creative outfits for the big costume contest!
