In this small group, 6-weeks courses you will gain a new, better understanding of biology, learning how to use DNA, cells, and enzymes as your tools to engineer, build, measure, and analyze biology. Tuesdays Feb 3 - Mar 10, 2025

Level up to genetic engineering and personalized diagnostics. This course shows you how we can use cells like mini machines and factories you can program to make useful things for us.

Central Dogma: Learn the DNA coding language and how cells work to read the code.

Engineer an Organism: Learn how to "reprogram" bacteria to make useful products.

Biology as a Diagnostic Technology: Put all the skills you learned together to test your own DNA:

• Extract your own DNA and set up PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) to make millions of copies of a specific gene.
• Use molecular scissors on the gene you copied, then use gel electrophoresis to visualize and interpret your personal results.
