Winding Stair Road is a location on the Appalachian Trail & it is known for its scenic views (especially with the fall foliage), and it leads to a free Duke Energy access point on a lake.
We will start in Franklin & travel up Wayah Rd to The Nantahala River launch.
We will then turn on Winding stairs Rd and go up & over the mountain on to Otter Creek.
We will follow the power lines with enjoy some amazing views. We will continue to follow the power lines/Telecom Rd past the Appalachian trail which will head down into a beautiful valley and farm back to Hwy 28 and on the Franklin.

MEET LOCATION: Ingles (1257 Georgia Rd., Franklin, NC)
MEET TIME: 10:30am
DRIVER'S MEETING: 10:55am
LEAVE TIME: 11:00am SHARP
ELEVATION: We will climb to 4,400 feet
DIFFICULTY: This is a stock friendly ride
TIME FRAME: In total from leave time to completion of the trail is approximately 3~4 hrs
LUNCH: We will finish in Franklin & eat at one of the restaurants (to be posted prior to the ride)
MISC: Bring a cooler of drinks & snacks
GAS: Have a full tank of gas BEFORE the ride
