River Walk & Talk: Pinkerton Park Stream Restoration

Ralston Branch (or North Ewingville Creek) flows through the back end of Pinkerton Park on its way to the Harpeth River. The Cumberland River Compact and the City of Franklin have partnered to improve the health of the stream by restructuring its badly eroded banks and planting native vegetation. Construction began last month, and now Ralston Branch is well on its way to becoming a healthier habitat for aquatic wildlife - and supplying cleaner water to the Harpeth River!

This Saturday, Compact staff will have a table set up at the back of Pinkerton Park (near the trail that leads to Fort Granger) to answer your questions about the project and how it ties back to our organization’s mission of promoting clean and abundant water for everyone in the Cumberland River basin. We'll have family-friendly activities that let you get up-close-and-personal with the critters that call the creek home; plus, you'll get to walk over to the restoration site and see firsthand the methods being used to improve the stream and its riparian buffer.
