Planting for Wildlife & Leaving the Leaves

Looking ahead to our Wildflower Meadow and Butterfly Garden at the newly created Dragline Park, we ask you to join us to learn more about the effect these areas will have on our local wildlife.

This special program will be presented by Jennifer Rader, SE Kansas Nature Center Director from Galena. Jennifer will discuss plants that help attract wildlife, but focus on leaving the leaves, or leaving standing vegetation in our gardens/yards to help make food sources and safe havens for overwintering species such as birds, bats, bugs and more. There will be a power point, resources that can help you plan little spaces in your own yard, and possibly a critter or two. After the program she will be available to answer your questions.
