July 28 Porch Talk

The African American Heritage Society of Williamson County will be hosting its’s July Porch Talk Event on Monday, July 28th at 6:00 P.M. at the Williamson County Public Library, 1314 Columbia Ave. in Franklin. Guest speakers will be members of the Carothers family, who had 5 brothers enlisted in the military all at one time. The audience will hear the stories of a hard-working family that grew up in the Williamson County community and made a difference by the sacrifices and service that they made for our country. Their story is profound and the Williamson Herald featured a story by American Legion Post 215 member, Bob Ravener, on October 20, 2023, about this family. The talk will also feature another notable servant to our country and in our community, Retired Lieutenant Colonel Wanda Bruce Graham. Retired Lieutenant Colonel Graham has a tremendous history of service to her country and to her community. The attendees will hear captivating stories from Graham from her childhood to her aunt being part of the amazing “Six Triple Eight.” She continues to serve in the community in many capacities and has made a huge difference in the organizations that she is involved with. Graham was also featured in the Williamson Herald, in November of 2021 as the Grand Marshal of the Veterans Day Parade that year and The Herald shared her story with the community.
