This workshop series uses structured writing prompts and exercises to help participants process difficult emotions, experiences, or trauma in an environment that is supportive and non-judgmental.
The six weekly sessions are not focused on grammar or technique, but on using the act of writing as a tool for self-discovery and emotional release.
Program leader Jacqueline Harris will help participants explore different writing methods, including expressive writing, journaling, and legacy writing. Participants will have a safe space to share their experience of the writing process, and the writing itself. The emphasis is on feeling heard and validated within a supportive community. Sharing is encouraged, but not mandatory.
Research has shown that expressive writing can lead to reduced stress and anxiety. The practice can also cultivate the ability to navigate future challenges and to reclaim one’s voice.
Writing for Healing is for anyone seeking to gain perspective and find greater inner peace, regardless of their writing experience. Participants may be navigating significant life changes, illness, coping with grief or loss, processing trauma, or simply trying to reconnect with themselves.
