Activity Level 1: Easy
Location: Beechwood Farms Nature Reserve, Pittsburgh
Guide: Abby
Join us for a peaceful evening hike through Beechwood Farms Nature Reserve, a 134-acre sanctuary that’s home to a rich variety of birds, wildlife, and native plants. As the day softens into dusk, we’ll take the long loop—2.5 miles with about 375 feet of elevation gain—winding through a beautiful mosaic of habitats including fields, forests, ponds, and streams.
Moving at a relaxed pace, we’ll take time to soak in the stillness and wonder of the landscape. Beechwood feels like a hidden picture puzzle come to life—so keep your eyes peeled for sparrows, bluebirds, butterflies, hawks, deer, chipmunks, and perhaps even a wild turkey or two. The trail weaves through open meadows, brushy thickets, and into the hushed calm of pine groves, where the earthy scent of needles and bark draws you into the present moment. It’s the perfect way to end a summer day!
