Parents & godparents - at your child's baptism, you solemnly vowed to undertake the incredible responsibility and mission of raising your children in the Catholic faith, keeping the light of Christ burning brightly in their hearts, and helping them by word & example to keep their soul unstained along the journey towards heaven. But what does this really mean? What exactly is the mission that has been entrusted to us by the Lord? What does it look like in day-to-day life and how does the Lord desire us to carry it out?
And - what if it is all so much greater, more beautiful, and more exciting than we ever realized?
These may be the most important questions that any parent, godparent or grandparent can ask - and, also, possibly the most intimidating! On Sunday, September 7th, Sam & Whitney Halligan of Damascus Catholic Mission Campus will be presenting their reflections on the great beauty, responsibility, and adventure of this mission and offering encouragement and practical ideas for parents from their own experience.
Sam is a dynamic Catholic speaker with a passion for revitalizing the Church. With an infectious sense of humor and powerful conviction, Sam engages audiences with his unique blend of fun and passion. Sam has a hunger to help create an atmosphere for encounters with Jesus to flourish. Since serving in full-time ministry, he has spoken to over 10,000 individuals and speaks to thousands every year. When Sam is not traveling and speaking, he is a dedicated and committed husband to Whitney and father to their two sons: Judah and Leo. He is working on his dad jokes, and loves breakfast tacos, golf, reading, CrossFit and short walks on the beach...in that order.
The presentation will begin at approximately 9:30am. There will be age-appropriate sessions for children age 3 - 8th grade during the parent presentation, and our local Knights of Columbus will be serving an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast for only $8 beginning at 9am. All are invited to attend, but all parents, godparents & grandparents are particularly encouraged.
