Artes de la Rosa is proud to present “Wondering Through the Dark,” a solo exhibition by Fort Worth-based artist and Artes Academy alumna Bernadette Gonzalez.
Centered around her original character Pothead—a figure with a flowerpot over their head—Gonzalez invites viewers into a world where vulnerability, humor, and mental health intersect. Her work examines anxiety, isolation, and identity through intimate oil paintings and mixed-media pieces, often contrasted with whimsical elements like ghosts and sock puppets.
Using a cool color palette and centered compositions, Gonzalez creates visual narratives that resonate deeply. Pothead becomes a mirror—reflecting the quiet struggles many face but rarely express.

Artes de la Rosa se enorgullece en presentar “Wondering Through the Dark”, una exposición individual de la artista originaria de Fort Worth y exalumna de Artes Academy, Bernadette Gonzalez.
En el corazón de su obra está Pothead—un personaje original que lleva una maceta en la cabeza—creado para explorar temas como la salud mental, la ansiedad, la soledad y la identidad. A través de pinturas al óleo íntimas y piezas de técnica mixta, Gonzalez da vida a este personaje en mundos que combinan lo vulnerable con lo lúdico, incluyendo figuras como fantasmas y títeres de calcetín.
Con una paleta de colores fríos y composiciones centradas, sus obras invitan al espectador a acercarse y reflexionar. Pothead se convierte en un espejo de nuestras emociones más profundas—esos momentos en los que nos sentimos invisibles.
