About the event

An October 7 Commemoration: Two Years of Genocide
The horrors of the genocide in Gaza, and the unconscionable pain created since October 7, 2023, shake all people of conscience. In lieu of our regular protest Tuesday, on 10/7 at 5:00 pm we will gather to memorialize, stand witness and hold vigil to mark two years of continuous genocide in Gaza. This solemn event will also commemorate the steadfastness, resilience and faith of the Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank, and and serve to call us all back to our shared humanity.

5:00 pm: Laying of shoes to represent the children killed in Gaza, the reading of children's names and Palestinian poems

5:30 pm: Commemoration speech, international poetry performance, and pinning of flowers

You are invited to bring shoes to lay out during the event in memory. There will also be music, chalk drawings and activities for children during the event.

“We strongly oppose the expansion of Israel’s military operations in Gaza. The level of human suffering in Gaza is intolerable…The Israeli Government’s denial of essential humanitarian assistance to the civilian population is unacceptable and risks breaching International Humanitarian Law…Israel suffered a heinous attack on October 7. We have always supported Israel’s right to defend Israelis against terrorism. But this escalation is wholly disproportionate.”
