Join us on September 13th, 2025 for an exciting and family-friendly event, the Run Like a Kid 5K! This festive race invites participants of all ages to embrace their inner child and enjoy a fun-filled morning of running, laughter, and community spirit.
Our course will wind through the charming Bell Tower Shops, providing a vibrant and engaging atmosphere for runners and spectators alike. With lively decorations, music, and plenty of surprises along the way, this event promises to be a memorable experience for everyone involved. The Run Like a Kid 5K is designed to be inclusive and enjoyable for runners of all skill levels, from serious athletes to casual joggers and families looking to share a special activity together. Dress up in your favorite childhood costume, bring your kids, and get ready for a day of fun and fitness.
Best of all, this event benefits Golisano's Children's Hospital and Barbara's Friends. Your participation helps support vital programs and services for children in our community, making a positive impact on their lives and health.

Get ready for the ultimate throwback fun! Apex Promoz invites young racers ages 2 to 16 to join Roll Like a Kid — a fast, fun, and family-friendly race featuring tradition stock Big Wheels! It’s the perfect way to keep the energy rolling after the Run Like a Kid 5K and give our youngest participants a moment in the spotlight.
🎉 What Is Roll Like a Kid?
Roll Like a Kid is a short-distance, timed fun race for kids who want to show off their speed and wheels — Big Wheel style! Whether pedaling or pushing with their feet, kids will race while staying seated on their ride the entire time.
Depending on turnout, the race may be divided into waves or corrals. All results will be based on chip timing. It’s a race, and we want you to compete — but it’s all about fun!
📋 Race Divisions
Participants will be grouped by age and ride type to keep the event fair, exciting, and safe:
🚗 Low Rider Division (Ages 2–6)
Plastic Stock Big Wheels only
Shortest route (~50 yards)
Parents may walk alongside but cannot push (unless child is done)
Helmets required
🛞 Turbo Division (Ages 7–11)
Any stock Big Wheels allowed
Mid-distance course (~125 yards)
No assistance allowed on course
Helmets required
🏁 Speedster Division (Ages 12–16)
Any stock Big Wheel allowed
Longest course (~250 yards)
No assistance allowed on course
Helmets required

📏 Race Rules & Big Wheel Specifications
To ensure a fun, fair, and safe experience for all racers, the following rules and equipment guidelines apply to the Roll Like a Kid Big Wheels race:
✅ General Race Rules
All riders must wear a helmet while on the course — no exceptions.
Riders must remain seated on their Big Wheel for the entire race.
No pushing or assisting racers (except for very young kids in the Low Rider Division who have stopped or fallen behind).
No motorized Big Wheels, e-bikes, scooters, or modified ride-ons.
All racers must stay within their assigned lane or race zone.
Unsafe behavior (reckless riding, intentional bumping, etc.) may result in disqualification.
🛞 Big Wheel Requirements (Bring Your Own or Use Ours)
Participants are welcome to bring their own Big Wheel, but it must meet the following specifications:
⚙️ Basic Construction
Big Wheels must be stock/unmodified and retain all original safety features.
The Big Wheel must have three wheels — one front wheel and two rear wheels.
All wheels must be securely attached and in good working condition.
No added motors, gears, steering alterations, or weighted components.
📐 Size Requirements
To ensure fairness across divisions, the following wheel sizes apply:
Front Wheel Diameter:
Minimum: 12 inches
Maximum: 20 inches
Rear Wheel Diameter (each):
Minimum: none
Maximum: 10 inches
If a racer’s Big Wheel does not meet these specifications, they will be required to use one of the Big Wheels provided by Apex Promoz (up to 10 available per heat).
Parking:
Parking will be near Dave and Busters and also in front of McGregor's Public House, Blue Oyster Bar and Grimaldi's. Parking Maps will be provided in the pre race email.
