Rampart Readers Commemorates African Landing Day

Join us August 2 from 10am-11am or 1pm-2pm in the Visitor & Education Center at Fort Monroe for Rampart Readers, a children’s book club partnership between Fort Monroe Authority and Hampton Public Library.

This month in commemoration of African Landing Day we are reading The Granddaughter Necklace by Sharon Dennis Wyeth, illustrated by Bagram Ibatoulline. With a historical sweep that reaches back to Ireland and to Africa, and an intimacy that resides in every family's treasured stories, Wyeth tells the tale of one family's journey from the old world to the new, from the past to the present, and from mother to daughter.
