About the event

Pleasure in Perimenopause & Beyond
Exploring our capacity for pleasure during the perimenopause transition.

About this Event

Perimenopause seems to be a hot topic of discussion right now, which is honestly SO great because it's something that effects a huge number of people and has gone widely ignored for a long time. The hormonal changes during perimenopause can have a significant on both mental and physical pleasure, and this workshop is all about exploring our capacity for pleasure during the perimenopause transition.

We cover the hormonal shifts that happen in perimenopause, the cultural myths about this transition and common symptoms and treatments that are available. We take a deep dive into how our capacity for pleasure evolves as we do. We will explore menstrual cycle awareness, mindset, breathing, vibration and body awareness as tools to ignite our pleasure in the bedroom as well as in our lives in general. Come be inspired and feel hopeful about Pleasure in Perimenopause!

About the facilitators:

Dr. Julie Wallace PT, DPT, CLT (she/her/hers) Founder of Insight Pelvic Health Julie became a physical therapist to fulfill a lifelong dream of helping people feel better. Her passion for pelvic floor treatment comes from her own experience in her early 20s, when she completely peed her pants. She knows firsthand how problems with the pelvic floor can cause people to suffer in silence, due to things like leaking, pain with sex, low back pain, or the physical toll of giving birth. She also knows how life-changing the right treatment can be. As she enters perimenopause herself, she is learning that this transition can be a time of joy and fun if we have the right tools. She is excited to bring this knowledge to the community to help everyone enjoy this time in their lives. As a PT, Julie’s goal is to get her clients back to feeling like themselves again, doing all the activities they want without anxiety and limitation. Julie lives in Loveland, Colorado with her husband and two children. She loves biking, backpacking, and skiing. She graduated with a B.A. in Integrative Physiology and Psychology from University of Colorado, and then completed her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the Anschutz Medical School at the University of Colorado. She specializes in treating the pelvic floor and is certified in trigger point dry needling and lymphedema treatment. She has taken a plethora of continuing education courses focusing on treating people during perimenopause and menopause, pelvic floor dysfunctions, and visceral mobilization.

Vida Hollander, (she/her/hers) NCPT, CMCCF, Owner of Body Sense Vida Hollander is a movement therapist, a certified Pilates teacher and a certified Menstrual Cycle Coach Facilitator and educator. She teaches embodied movement from an anatomical perspective, empowering her clients with knowledge about their own anatomy and the power to consult their own body’s experience to guide their movement. She specializes in injury prevention and rehabilitation, spinal conditions, and pelvic floor and core training. Vida’s mission as a menstrual cycle educator is to break down the taboo around menstruation and reframe it as an essential compass, guiding us to better mental, emotional, physical, spiritual and sexual health. Vida believes that embodiment is living in loving relationship with one’s body, and that the potential for health and wellbeing exists when we work with our bodies rather than against them. Vida graduated with a BA in Linguistics from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. She has completed three Pilates training certifications and is certified through Cycle Coach School as a Menstrual Cycle Coach Facilitator and educator. She continues her anatomy studies through cadaver dissections at the Institute for Anatomical Research in Colorado Springs. She lives in Fort Collins, Colorado with her husband, three cats and 2 dogs.
