Join Liz Ortiz of Mad Hare Press for a creative evening of small-scale printmaking with a colorful twist!

This Pink Eraser Block Printmaking Workshop combines accessible relief carving techniques with vibrant alcohol ink pads for bold, expressive results.

Each participant will receive three pink eraser blocks to design and carve into a triptych or a themed series, like a floral progression or three variations of an animal. You'll use fine gouges to carve smaller, detailed images, then bring them to life with rich, layered alcohol inks.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN

• How to transfer small designs onto rubber blocks
• Carving techniques using fine gouges for delicate detail
• Inking and hand-printing using alcohol ink pads
• Arranging prints as a series or triptych with visual cohesion

INCLUDED MATERIALS

• Three premium pink eraser carving blocks
• Alcohol ink pads in a variety of vibrant colors
• Archival-quality cotton paper
• Carving tools, barens, gloves, and aprons
• Sample designs or bring your own sketches for a 1"x2" carving surface (Simple lines work best)

WHO CAN JOIN

• Ages 14+ | Beginners welcome
• Prior experience helpful, but not required. Just bring patience for a slower carving process.

• Liability Waiver & Photo Release Form: By attending this workshop, you agree to our Liability Waiver and Photo Release Form.
• Minimum Age Requirement: Suggested minimum age is 14+ years. This workshop involves sharp tools and detailed carving techniques. To prevent any injury it is recommended there be a confident level of hand coordination for any minor. Of course as a parent/guardian you have the knowledge on the level of skill and coordination of your child. Please contact if you have questions regarding suggested age of participants.
• Parent/Guardian Attendence: Minors 14-17 years must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Parent(s)/guardian(s) must sign liability waiver(s) for any minor and must be present for the entirety of the workshop.
• Allergen Warning: Please be aware that some materials used in this workshop may cause possible skin irritation or potential allergic reactions. Gloves and masks will be available.

About Liz Ortiz:

Liz Ortiz of Mad Hare Press is a Fort Collins-based multidisciplinary artist specializing in various printmaking techniques. With a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Photo Image Making and Printmaking, Liz has extensive experience in intaglio, lithography, woodcut printmaking, and analog black and white photography. Her passion for accessible printmaking methods, particularly relief block printing, shines through in her creative and engaging workshops.

Info: Continue Drawing your designs | Transfer drawings to your blocks and prepare to carve.

Info: Carving should begin promptly 1 hour prior to the end of the workshop to ensure you have time to safely carve and complete your block designs.
