Join us for an inspiring afternoon in support of a truly vital cause. The Great Lakes Women’s Shelter Fundraiser Luncheon returns to Tuncurry Beach Bowling Club on Friday 25 July 2025, and promises to be an unforgettable event filled with purpose, passion, and a few good laughs! Proudly supported by Zoom Energy.

Hosted by Renee Gartner

A familiar face on Australian television and a passionate advocate for women’s issues, Renee Gartner brings energy, insight and warmth to every event she hosts. With a background in sports media and charity work, Renee is the perfect host for this powerful day of community connection and giving.

Special Guest Speakers

Paul Sironen – A legend of rugby league, Paul is a former NSW State of Origin and Australian international forward. Known for his toughness on the field and generosity off it, Paul brings stories of resilience, leadership and mateship that will captivate any audience.

Kurt Gidley – Former captain of the Newcastle Knights, NSW Blues and Australian representative, Kurt’s career has been marked by determination, humility and heart. He’ll share stories from his career and how sport shaped his views on community and wellbeing.

Michelle Lee – Australia’s first woman to row solo across the Atlantic Ocean. Michelle is an adventurer, motivational speaker and embodiment of fearless determination. Her story of rowing 5,000km alone through wild seas is as inspiring as it is empowering.

Entertainment by Darren Carr

One of Australia’s most awarded ventriloquists and comedians, Darren Carr delivers comedy with a twist. His razor-sharp wit and clever characters have earned him multiple Mo and ACE Awards – and he’ll have you laughing out loud.
