Caring for Space, Spaces for Caring est une exposition photographique et vidéo qui montre comment des communautés à travers l’Europe réhabilitent des bâtiments inoccupés et des sites abandonnés pour en faire des espaces de « care » (« réconfort »), créant des communs urbains à la fois génératifs et résilients.

D’Athènes à Bruxelles, d’abris pour réfugié·es en Bosnie aux communautés d’artistes à Marseille, ces initiatives transforment leur fragilité en une forme de résilience, faisant de l’occupation une pratique de soin, de résistance et d’imagination collective pour un avenir urbain plus inclusif.

"Reclaming care and the city towards an ecological welfare"

🌍 Over the past two decades, communities across Europe have been reclaiming vacant buildings and abandoned sites, transforming them into urban commons, cultural spaces, shelters, and places of care. These initiatives act as living laboratories, where care for people, communities, and the environment takes root in fragile yet inventive ways.

📸 The exhibition 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞, 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 brings together photography and video to capture such spaces. From Athens, Kamza, Marseille, Bihać, and Brussels, we showcase stories of reclaimed heritage buildings, refugee shelters, artist compounds, and rewilded brownfields.

These works highlight how occupation and transformation become acts of care, resisting privatization and opening up possibilities for a more collective urban future — an enduring testimony that other worlds are possible. 🌱
