The Forest Hills Festival of the Arts is held every year in the summer and again in the fall. Austin street is closed down, and over 100,000 shoppers pour into the street to see an assortment of unusual vendors specializing in fine arts and crafts + enough food to put you in a coma for days.
The fair spans Austin Street from 69th Road to Ascan Avenue. If you need an address for GPS, use 7130 Austin Street, Forest Hills. Driving around the area is a nightmare and parking is nearly impossible. You can take the M/R/E/F Subway or the LIRR to Forest Hills.
