What is the Inquiry?
On 6th August 2025, a motion for a Parliamentary Inquiry into energy from waste proposals in NSW was successful.
The Select Committee will examine the risks of such facilities to health, the environment, agriculture and the economy, and investigate safe alternatives to reduce and manage red bin waste produced by Greater Sydney that doesn’t unfairly burden Regional NSW with the waste or associated risks.
Parliamentary Inquiries benefit the community by reviewing proposed laws, facilitating more informed policy-making and ensuring greater government accountability.
Committees call for written submissions, conduct hearings where witnesses give evidence and seek advice from experts. They provide a forum for the public to have their say on issues before the Parliament. Committees report their findings and recommendations for government action to the Parliament.
Submissions are now open until Friday, 31st October 2025.
How do I lodge a submission?
Online
To lodge online, go to the Inquiry webpage www.parliament.nsw.gov.au/committees/listofcommittees/Pages/committee-details.aspx?pk=337 and select the ‘Submissions’ tab.
Hardcopy
You can bring your hardcopy submission (hand written or typed and printed) to Trundle War Memorial Hall on Sunday between 9am and 11am and we will scan your submission and help you to upload it to the portal.
