Learn the fundamentals of bonsai art in this day long workshop. All supplies are provided and you will go home with your own bonsai.

About this Event

Learn the fundamentals for turning ordinary nursery stock into a living work of art. This workshop covers the five major styles of bonsai along with plant and container selection, branch and root pruningwiring, and potting. Students can choose to work with a tree that grows indoors or outdoors. Soil, container, wire, ground cover and tree will be provided. Please bring chop sticks and good pruning shears.

The course will be taught by award winning Bonsai Artist John Capobianco. Class will cover the different fundamentals to this ancient art.

At the end of the day you will not only go home with a bonsai which you created on your own, but more importantly, with enough information and hands-on experience to serve as a solid foundation for learning more.

The first half of the class will cover: Basic Horticulture, Bonsai Tools and Equipment, Bonsai styles, Selecting Stock Trees, Selecting Pots, Soil, Tree Design & Styling, Branch & Leaf Pruning, Wiring, Root Pruning, Potting, General Care, Questions and Answers
