As part of the Jubilee Year of Hope, the Friends of Francis Weekend Retreat offers a space to embrace the Franciscan way: to listen with love, to meet others with dignity, and to carry peace into a world that longs for healing.
Guided by the spirit of St. Francis—who once crossed battle lines not with fear, but with open hands—we gather to pray, reflect, and rediscover what it means to live the Gospel with courage and compassion.
Through prayer, spiritual direction, and the beauty of creation, you’ll explore what it means to foster a Culture of Encounter—a way of seeing others with compassion, dignity, and the presence of Christ.
What’s Included:
• Private room accommodations for two nights
• Four meals
• Conferences and spiritual reflection sessions
• Time for rest, nature, and silent prayer
• Concludes with our beloved Mass on the Grass, an annual outdoor celebration of community and worship
Saint Francis and the Sultan
In a time of conflict, Saint Francis crossed enemy lines not with fear—but with faith. His meeting with Sultan Malik al-Kamil remains a powerful witness to the possibility of peace through humility, dialogue, and mutual respect. In this Jubilee Year of Hope, may we too become bridges of encounter in a divided world.
