Hi folks,
I’m Amanda, a local homeschool educator and parent to a 9-year-old. I have noticed that there aren’t a lot of inclusive groups and 3rd spaces for kids and families to join, so we’re gonna make it! This year, I am excited to launch a new co-ed scouting group in the area. The group will be open to kids ages 5-18. I hope this will be an awesome opportunity for community and friendship building - for kids and grown ups!
We will be holding an information session on Monday, July 28, 4pm at the Spout Springs Library in Flowery Branch for all interested families. Hope to see you there! Please fill out this interest form whether you will be attending the information session or not:

**I am also looking for a co-leader! DM me or let me know at the info meeting if you would like to lead.
Here’s a general idea of how the chapter would work. See if it aligns with your values, schedules, interests, and family needs - we’d love to have you join us! I’m also open to feedback and love to hear it. We will discuss all of these points together as well!
-Our chapter will be associated with Navigators USA (
https://www.navigatorsusa.org/). They are a secular, inclusive, and welcoming scouting organization. From their website: “The Navigators USA alternative scouting program was created to include everyone, and to help each person develop their fullest potential without discrimination. We aim to establish a world without prejudice or ignorance, and to treat every person with respect, no matter their race, creed, lifestyle, or ability.”
-This is a family scouting program. Parents and guardians are encouraged to participate alongside their Learners. This is not a drop off program.
-Badges include Minecraft, Service Learning, and Coding, among the traditional nature-based activities like Archery, First Aid, and Birding. I am so excited for some of these! Full plan is below for our year, including outings & field trips. We can even create our own badges, giving our group autonomy and flexibility.
-Meetings will be held twice per month. One meeting will be held at the Spout Springs library (Mondays from 4-5pm), while the other will be an (optional) outing or field trip that helps fulfill a badge requirement. These will usually take place on either Sundays or Mondays.
-Our first official meeting is Monday, August 18, 2025 at 4pm.
-Meetings are free to attend! Parents/guardians must stay with their Scout.
-Families may keep track of badge progress outside of meeting times and report them to group leaders. We will offer pins for each badge achievement. As my 9 year old says, not everyone can sew yet lol. Pins also offer greater flexibility for display and a lower price point.
-Badges (or pins) can be collected and displayed as the Learner wishes. Navigators gear (t-shirts, sash, vest, etc.) is available for purchase but is not required.
-For Learners that want badges/pins, the fee for the 2025-2026 year will be $40 per Learner. Includes up to 14 badges/pins.
-For families not interested in pins, we will request a materials donation of $15 per Learner, per year.
