A local favorite, folksinger and storyteller Adam Miller returns to the Siuslaw Public Library, 1460 9th St, Florence, Oregon, to perform a free concert of "Traditional Folksongs of the Winter Holidays," at 1:00 pm, Saturday, December 6, 2025.
Miller's multi-cultural program features traditional holiday folksongs from an American English-speaking folk tradition; well-known (and not-so-well-known) folksongs and carols for New Year’s, Christmas, and the Winter Solstice. Many of these songs grew out of (and were used in) the old-time American holiday celebration — a season not of Santa Claus and tinsel trees but of homespun worship, festivity, and singing.
An artist whose kind has dwindled to an endangered species, Adam Miller is a renowned old-school American troubadour and a natural-born storyteller. One of the premier autoharpists in the world, he is an accomplished folklorist, song-collector, and raconteur, with a remarkable repertoire of more than 5,000 songs. With his resonant baritone voice and easy audience rapport, he is a masterful entertainer who never fails to get his audience singing along.
Miller's original story "Elizabeth Cotten and the Old Christmas Hum" received the 2020 Storytelling World Award.
