Saturday, May 31, 2025: A Day At The Lake (Weekend One) | Time: 9:00 am – 4:00 pm

Location: Bethesda Temple Church - 947 Leland St, Flint, MI
Sponsored by Men’s Community Action Resources (MCAR)

Purpose: “A Day At The Lake” is a community event that introduces children and youth to fishing and other life skills through fun activities. One-day mandatory training will take place at Bethesda Temple. Participants will receive fishing poles, tackle boxes, and other prizes. Registration for the day is between 8:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. Lunch will be served at 1:00 p.m.

Location: Metropolitan Church - 930 E. Myrtle Ave, Flint, MI

Purpose: The Black church played a vital role in organizing and was a center of community life in the past. Today, it continues to be an essential institution in Black American life. We’ll be hosting a program in the church focused on education and entertainment.

Purpose: If it can happen to Wendy Williams, it can happen to any of us. Come out and learn how to protect your property and independence by planning. This session by the Michigan Poverty Law program and the Crime Victims Legal Assistance Project will include how to protect your right to decide what happens to your person and property by engaging in advanced life planning, such as completing power of attorney and patient advocate designation forms.

Purpose: Collaborating with the good folks of GenWEL United begins with the festivities of Juneteenth 2025 with fun, activities, and food. Activities include music and performances, activities for the children, and vendors. Be part of the village and connect with the community of villagers.

Purpose: Join us for a powerful Juneteenth celebration at the URC as we introduce the spirit of Ubuntu—"I am because we are." Purpose: The journey to freedom for 200,000 former enslaved black men who became elite Civil War assault troops. Featuring actual slave narrative interviews in which they discuss their faith, dreams, and determination. Over 30,000 lost their lives in over 400 battles. They had the honor of being the first to enter the Confederate capital of Richmond and opening the slave pens.


Monday, June 9, 2025: B.U.S.T/Healing Circle | Time: 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Location: Martin Luther King Peace Park - MLK & McClellan

Purpose: The community has been dealing with trials and tribulations, seeking to navigate through division. Historically, we have been subject to pain and suffering without any methods to address the core of the problem. We are hosting a holistic healing circle focused on meditation, affirmations, and love. Local pastors will be present to provide a spiritual message to the public.


Wednesday, June 11, 2025: Justice League of Lansing | Time: 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm

Location: Hasselbring Senior Center - 1678 W. Pierson Rd, Flint, MI

Purpose: The Justice League has cultivated a positive rapport amongst congregations and communities across the Greater Lansing Region. Their faith-based approach to repairing the breach of wealth inequities for the descendants of enslaved African Americans has become a model for other communities to live into.

Purpose: Dr. E. Hill De Loney, affectionately remembered as Mother De Loney first love was educating the youth. She reared and mentored countless youth in her lifetime with real knowledge of our history, our greatness, and our need in the present-day fight against systemic racism. The scholarship fund was set in place to continue this legacy and honor the youth in a way that they will continue to grow with the knowledge of knowing who they are and how important they are. This reception will continue to honor her legacy as well as the youth who should be recognized for their efforts.

Purpose: Honoring and uplifting fathers by establishing, reuniting, or continuing to build strong family bonds. Resource information will be available for expecting fathers, fathers struggling with custody issues, child support, job security, housing, parenting conflicts, guilt, etc. All fathers are welcome, including adoptive, step, grandfathers, and godfathers. Please bring your children, but if not available, please bring yourself, and we are here to help you bridge the gap with a special emphasis on family forgiveness. Dinner will be served, and gifts will be given.


Monday, June 16, 2025: - Freedom School Youth Dinner | Time: 6:00 pm - 8:30 PM

Location: Sloan Museum of Discovery - 1221 E. Kearsley St, Flint, MI
Sponsored by The Traditional Flint Juneteenth Celebration Committee

Purpose: The Juneteenth celebration traditionally begins in remembrance and honor of the nearly 1,500 children slaughtered in Soweto, South Africa, on June 16, 1976, protesting against Apartheid! Thus, beginning the end of apartheid ‘The Children’s Brigade,” who were painfully hosed and jailed by police during the Civil Rights Movement, the youth played a powerful role in moving the Civil Rights protest to a successful conclusion. This tribute will be led by the children with the support of elder leadership. Dinner will be provided, and entertainment.


Tuesday, June 17, 2025: Legacy & Literacy | Time: 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Location: Kennedy Center- 1678 W. Pierson Rd, Flint, MI

Purpose: Celebrating our legacy with a twist of literacy at the Hasselbring Senior Center. Fun and excitement with our elders, with youth participating in community special activities. You will also get to experience live music and a taste of AfroCentric foods!

Purpose: Emphasizing financial literacy by educating entrepreneurs and small businesses on proper formation/development. We will have business consultants, credit repair specialists, and financial advisors. We will have vendors, merchants, and food trucks. Activities include youth games, bounce house, arts and culture, music performances, and a special ceremony honoring prolific figures from our community. We’ll have vendors present with products, merchandise, and backyard games for adults. Starting at 5:00 pm, the lineup for the Juneteenth Parade with classic cars, motorcycle clubs, marching bands, floats, and the community.
