PARENT ED-Kid Friendly Sourdough Basics and Brunch

What better way to earn a Parent Ed credit than learning how to bake delicious sourdough bread with your child and then having brunch with that fresh baked bread?!

Baking at home has been one of the most rewarding things I have taught myself to do and I think everyone should be able to do it! Nothing brings kids running to the kitchen like a fresh slice of warm bread slathered in butter!

At this Parent Ed event I will be introducing everyone to the fundamentals of working with natural yeast, starting with what sourdough is and how a starter works. We will cover how to feed and maintain a healthy sourdough starter that you will take home with you as well as basic tools and ingredients needed for success at home. I will guide parents through the essential steps of making a simple sourdough loaf including mixing, fermenting, shaping, and baking. Emphasis will be placed on practical tips for fitting sourdough baking into busy family schedules, involving children safely in the process, and helping you feel confident and inspired to bake nourishing bread at home.

After we bake our bread, I welcome everyone to stay and enjoy brunch and let the kids play! I ask that everyone brings a nut-free brunch food or drink to share! I'lll supply the fresh bread and bagels!
