AGILITY/WORKING EQUITATION – £10 per rider (BEGINNER and WT ability can be lead)

9.30am – 10.30pm – AGILITY RACES/WORKING EQUITATION – ALL ABILITIES WELCOME There will be two groups, split by ability (Clients only walking and trotting and any clients who are confidently cantering)
Participants ride their horse or pony through obstacles and tasks such as opening and closing a gate, bending poles, moving objects from one space to another, walking over a raised area etc to achieve a time. If a task is missed or not correct you can return to it and try again so long as you have not started the next task. Fastest time wins. (Rosettes to 6th place) Penalty points (4 seconds) will be accrued and added to the final time, for missed obstacles or incomplete tasks.
10.30am – 11.45pm GYMKHANAH RACES
Races to include things like – carry the sun hat, smartest rider in walk and trot, cone weaving, speed races and agility activities.
- LEAD REIN RACES (WALK AND TROT) – Riders will be lead for these races practicing a range of skills such as steering, transitions and mounting and dismounting with the support and help where needed from their leader. 4 races per entry
- WALK AND TROT (ON or OFF LEAD) – Riders will need to steer their steeds through cones or obstacles accurately, control their speed, mount and dismount independently and be comfortable rising and sitting to the trot staying consistently balanced. 4 races per entry
- WALK TROT AND CATER (OFF LEAD) – Riders will use all three speeds within these races and need to be able to make these transitions independently and be securely confident in getting their pony into canter as well as the downward transition to trot – just in case their four legged friend thinks they need to go very fast to win! 4 races per entry
11.45 – BEANBAG SHUTTLE RACE
- A TEAM OF TWO shuttle race (WALK AND TROT ONLY) – can be lead.
Each team of two will take it in turns to collect beanbags and bring them back to their base – throwing them into a bucket. Accuracy is vital!
12.00 – FLAG RACE
- TEAM FLAG RACE (WTC RIDERS upwards ONLY) – You will need a team of two! Each team will have to take turns in collecting flags from the opposite end of the arena and riding back with them, placing them in a set position before their partner can set off to get the next flag. The first team with all flags back to the start wins. The faster the better.
12.30 – BLOCK ELIMINATION
RIDERS MUST HAVE BEEN JUMPING IN LESSONS FOR AT LEAST 6 MONTHS - A line of blocks creates a jump. Each round a block is removed and the jump gets narrower until only one block remains. A refusal, run out either side or the fence down will result in elimination from the class. ‘Jumping’ the obstacle and moving to the next round requires all four legs to have passed directly over it. Steering is the key skill here
BREAK FOR LUNCH – REFRESHMENTS, BBQ AND CAKE AVAILABLE
2.00pm - CHASE ME CHARLIE
- ADVANCED JUMPERS ONLY (Please check with your regular instructor for ability suitability) - An excellent test of jumping skills, fitness and nerves! This class requires horse and rider to jump one fence which increases in height in each round until there is only one horse left who has jumped it clear. A refusal or the fence down will result in elimination from the class.
Not before – 2.15- MINI CLEAR ROUND (Lead by an instructor) – Ideal as an intro to small x poles. 5 jumps, with a rosette if they go clear. (Limited number of spaces available.) ONE BOOOKING PER RIDING SCHOOL CLIENT TO ENSURE HORSES ARE NOT OVER WORKED
Not before – 2.30- CLEAR ROUND (No lead rein) – Heights start from 1’6 and raised across the two hours. 11- 13 jumps in total. First time clear round clients MUST have had at least 3 lessons in the jumping field or evening jumping lessons to attend. There will be a limited number of Mayfair Ponies available for these classes as they will have worked hard over the morning. Please discuss your child’s capability with their instructor before booking to avoid disappointment. ONE BOOOKING PER RIDING SCHOOL CLIENT TO ENSURE HORSES ARE NOT OVERWORKED
