6 mile/10km Hike starting near Tilford and walking the Greensand Way to Waverley Abbey and Crooksbury Hill.
his walk starts at Tilford before taking the Greensand Way alongside the northern branch of the Wey through woodland to the ancient ruins of Waverley Abbey, the first Cistertian Abbey in England. This English Heritage property is free to enter and you will find out about how the Abbey developed as well as information about the site over the years and its place in the local area.
After a stop at the Abbey cafe, walk to Mother Ludlum’s Cave, a local curiosity with a long and interesting history before heading off to Crooksbury Hill and a short, steep climb to the top to enjoy the views across the countryside to the Surrey Hills and South Downs. From there return to the delightful village of Tilford.

In the last 4 years she has been appointed a walk leader for a national hiking holiday company and has led groups in the Peak District, Exmoor, the Isle of Wight, the Cotswolds, Dorset and the Surrey Hills.

Nearest railway station is Farnham. Public toilets by Tilford Green, by the school.
